1. Nuwara Eliya
Location: Central Sri Lanka
Nuwara Eliya – Known as Little England, Nuwara Eliya is a charming hill station with its cool climate and lush tea plantations. Head to the Horton Plains National Park with its World's End, a sheer drop from this cliff; and Victoria Park.
2. Mirissa
Location: Southern Coast
Highlights: An all-time favorite for beach lovers, Mirissa is popular for its golden sands, crystal clear waters and amazing nightlife. Don't forget to include whale watching in the deep blue sea at Mirissa which is one of the best places in east coast of Sri Lanka, where you can watch Blue Whales are seen every year with their swarming periods — normally from November - April.
3. Polonnaruwa
Place: North Central Province
HIGHLIGHT:Polonnaruwa served as the island's second capital (gradually centering around MInneriya to attenuate Tamil forces of India), and so this ancient city is rich in history, treasure troves! These include the remains of a Royal Palace, Quadrangle and Gal Vihara which is home to massive sculptures of Buddha.
4. Bentota
Location: Southwestern Coast
About Bentota: BENTOTA is popular beach for water sports and nearby Luxuary hotels It is perfect for those who love adrenaline fuelled activities such as jet skiing and snorkeling, or more laid back daily riverboat safaris on the Bentota River. This region is also famous for the Brief Garden which was created by well known landscape architect Bevis Bawa.
5. Jaffna
Location: Northern Sri Lanka
Visible unseriousness: Jaffna, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka's Tamil population; as different from the rest of this island nation as England from Ireland. Top attractions are the Jaffna Fort, Nallur Kandaswamy Temple and nearby islands like Delft which feature peculiar land formations along with traces of historical reminders.
